A Retrospective
Thank you!
I started this newsletter shortly before turning 24, and I will soon be 27. Each album I have written about remains sacred to me, all the more so due to the little odes I wrote to each.
More sacred, though, is you.
I wrote about falling in love, heartbreak, growing up, going crazy, and some other intense life experiences that were made all the more intense by the music that soundtracked them. I could have always just carried the albums and their corresponding experiences silently in my heart, but it was fun to have an outlet, and I can’t believe 45 of you were willing to tune in.
I am timing this intentionally at the tail end of a weird year, one that was, as always, abated by the music I hold dear to me. But I’m not here to write about that music. There is one thing in this world that excites, dazzles, and humbles me more than music does, and that is… people!
I’d write odes to you the way I wrote odes to these albums, but that would be a much bigger newsletter. No amount of love for music matches my love for you.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being here. Not just in the form of a subscriber, but in the form of a loved one. If you’re no longer in my life, I still cherish you for the experiences you gave me, in the same way one still cherishes the formative music they maybe don’t listen to anymore. Still, it holds a place in one’s heart too uniquely shaped to be replaced with anything else.
And to those who remain: I love you extra. Thank you for collectively being the permanent ace up my sleeve.
Love always,
Jenny
